French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said Tuesday that the government and TotalEnergies will decide the future of the oil company's business in Russia in the coming days.
"There is a question of principles," Le Maire said advancing that the talks will also involve the French energy group Engie .
Le Maire accused the European Union and the United States of provoking an "economic war" in Moscow that could cause "the collapse of the Russian economy."
Competing oil majors Shell, BP and Norway's Equinor said they would leave their joint ventures in Russia, increasing pressure on other Western companies with stakes in Russian energy projects.
Later today, expect more companies to announce their withdrawal from Russia as sanctions tighten as Russian troops advance.
