The province of Tete has commercialized more than 23 thousand tons of various agricultural products as a result of the Special Credit Line for Commercialization Support (LCCA).
This combined income statement is from farmers from the districts of Angónia, Moatize, Dôa, Marávia, Tsangano, Mágoè and Tete City, according to the spokesperson of the Tete Provincial Executive Council (CEP), Óscar Zalimba.
"Among the products that stood out the most are the crops of corn, beans, sesame, and soybeans, and of the 19 credit operations granted 157 jobs were cumulatively generated, with emphasis on young people," he said.
The result was achieved thanks to the disbursement of 29 million meticais by the Mozambique Cereals Institute (ICM), Public Institute (IP), and the Rural Development Support Agency (GAPI).
That amount was used to finance 19 projects for the distribution and sale of agricultural products, with 12 in 2020 and seven in 2021.
The CEP intends to introduce a fund to support youth entrepreneurship, and has already drafted a regulation with the criteria and procedures for accessing the funding.
The spokesperson assured that the same document establishes the mechanisms for entering into the financing contract between the CEP and the borrower, as a way to guarantee the promotion and encouragement of initiatives that generate employment and self-employment, entrepreneurship, and other sources of income for young people.
