Terrorism/Cabo Delgado: those who don't live this reality don't understand it, according to Nyusi

Terrorismo/Cabo Delgado: quem não vive essa realidade não a compreende, segundo Nyusi

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said today in Maputo that the complexity of the phenomenon of terrorism is difficult to understand for those who don't experience it on the ground.

"When an army is made up of disciplined and conscientious men, it adds to its relevance and promises cohesion if it has a sense of mission in defense of the interests of the nation and the people. It is for this reason that the people are proud to have a national defense sector that promotes the sole purpose of standing firm alongside those it serves and the entire nation. Those who don't live this reality often don't understand. We have been in a very delicate operational theater for years, since 2017. But the relationship between the Armed Defense Forces and the communities is fundamental and has been helping... in general, it's a very good experience," he said.

The Head of State was speaking at the opening of the XXV Coordinating Council of the Ministry of National Defense, in Maputo city.

"The other experience that is taking place on the ground and we don't have the dimension is the fact that we are working with many forces..., but the relationship is healthy," said the PR, noting the existence of geographies where the coexistence of forces "is problematic".

On the occasion, Nyusi praised the FADM's stance on efforts to maintain harmonious coexistence between the various military forces and the population.

"This is fundamental, because if there isn't this environment, battles or operations are discontinuous," he said.
