Subiu para 70 número de vítimas mortais do ciclone Chido em Moçambique

The death toll from Cyclone Chido, which hit the northern region of Mozambique at the weekend, particularly the provinces of Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa, has risen to 70, up from 45 the previous day.

The same trend can be seen in the number of people injured, which has now risen from 493 to 600, including serious and light injuries.

According to the National Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (INGD), Cyclone Chido affected more than 180,000 people.

Despite the casualties and damage to various infrastructures, Cyclone Chido caused much less damage in Mozambique compared to the Mayotte Islands, in the Mozambique Channel, which suffered the full impact of the storm on Saturday, causing the deaths of more than 1,000 people

The non-governmental organization (NGO) "Save the Children" has announced that around 650,000 children and their families are in danger from Cyclone Chido.
