Around 200,000 electoral agents will be hired nationwide by the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) for training, awareness-raising and the voting process in the General Elections on October 9. Abroad, the STAE intends to recruit 4,800 candidates.

The recruitment process began on June 3 and the group of agents will be subdivided into national facilitators, provincial trainers, civic education agents and polling station staff. The training of these groups will take place in September.

Quoted by NewsSTAE spokeswoman Regina Matsinhe said that the citizens proposed as Members of the Polling Station come from the political parties that sit in the Assembly of the Republic.

".... They don't submit applications because they come on the basis of a list sent to STAE, and they are integrated into the formations, just to cover the polling stations with the task of scrutineers," he explained.

According to Regina, those interested can go to the provincial and district STAE offices to find out about the requirements for registration for each category.
