The authorities of Sofala province, seized more than 20 tons of illegally caught fish this month.
The offenders were fined an estimated two million meticais, and five vehicles and eight motorcycles used to transport the product in question were confiscated.
The head of the Inspection Department at the Provincial Service of Economic Activities in Sofala, César Maposse, informed that the seized fish will be sold in a public auction.
With just over a month left until the end of the closed season, cases of illegal shrimp fishing are increasing on the Sofala bank.
