The low pressure system formed east of Madagascar continues to have the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone stage on Saturday.

The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM), which monitors the phenomenon, says it is still premature to assess whether or not the phenomenon will affect Mozambique.

According to a note from INAM, the system could reach the Mozambique Channel within a week.
