The National Prison Service (SERNAP) has now officially confirmed Nini Satar's death, pointing out that the victim was found lying in his cell with no vital signs.

According to a statement released by SERNAP, the case is already under investigation.

"The Special Maximum Security Penitentiary Establishment - Matola (Ex- B.O) announces that today, at around 07h30, during the morning inspection of the cells, carried out by the Prison Guard Agents assigned to this Establishment, they came across the citizen Momad Assif Abdul Satar lying on the floor, apparently without vital signs," reads the document.

He went on to say that "in the light of the incident, the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) was notified and carried out inspections at the scene, within the scope of its powers and prerogatives, and found that the man was lifeless".
