According to SERNIC's spokesman in Maputo city, Hilário Lole, this Monday "it was possible to arrest four men of Mozambican nationality, aged between 26 and 50, who are suspected of having taken part in the kidnapping" of a businessman.
It is recalled that the kidnapping took place on September 27, at the Asian businessman's commercial establishment in the city of Maputo.
The kidnappers posed as customers, then threatened the victim with a gun and dragged him into a car, according to images captured by the venue's video surveillance system and circulating on social media.
"The two detainees are employees of the victim's commercial establishment, who did not participate in any material way in the execution of the kidnapping, but contributed to its occurrence," said SERNIC, quoted by Lusa.
SERNIC also said that investigations are underway to identify the place where the victim is being held captive and to neutralize others involved in the kidnapping.
