Singer Rihanna is officially a multimillionaire, and the first woman in the music world to achieve the title, "Forbes" magazine reveals. Although she became the first singer to achieve such a fortune, the singer did not add to it mostly through music.
According to the news published in the Economic newspaper, in 2017, Robyn Rihanna Fenty created Fenty Beauty, a makeup and skincare line, which is currently the source of most of her fortune. The cosmetic brand was developed with the intent of inclusion for all women, and is currently one of the makeup lines with the most choices for women depending on their skin tone.
Rihanna currently has a fortune of $1.7 billion, with the cosmetics brand accounting for €1.2 billion. The rest is associated with the lingerie company SavageXFenty, in partnership with LVMH, performances as a singer, and her acting career.
The songwriter of "Umbrella" is second only to entertainer Oprah Winfrey, who is the richest female entertainer in the world.
On social media, Rihanna has 101 million followers on Instagram and 102.5 million on Twitter, and Forbes notes that while she is not the only celebrity capitalizing on her cosmetics brand, "she is the most successful beauty entrepreneur to do so.
In 2018, marking the first year of the cosmetics launch, the brand posted revenues of over $500 million, a figure that has increased every year and surpassed brands like Kylie Cosmetics, KKW Beauty and Honest Co.
According to Forbes calculations, Fenty Beauty is valued at $2.8 billion, with continued growth expected.
The Savage X Fenty lingerie line reached a $1 billion valuation in February of this year, after being founded in 2018 and promoting body positivity. In this project, Rihanna owns 30% of the company, and is also backed by TechStyle Fashion Group, Marcy Venture Partners and L. Catterton.
However, Fenty House Fashion was the only partnership that was affected, with the LVMH group canceling the collection in November 2020.
