The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is organizing a press conference in Geneva between July 6th and 7th, where nine humanoid robots will interact with journalists. The iteration will take place as part of the annual summit on the use of artificial intelligence for outstanding purposes.
An ITU spokesperson specified that among the robots that will interact with journalists will be Beonmi, the first fully functional humanoid robot for general use and Nadine, one of the most realistic social humanoids in existence.
There will also be Sophia, an innovative robot who acts as an ambassador for a United Nations organization dedicated to promoting development, Ai-Da Robot, an artist robot considered "ultra-realistic", and Grace, one of the most advanced in the field of health.
In addition, around 40 robots, designed to carry out various tasks such as putting out fires, building houses or health care, will be present with their creators to demonstrate their capabilities to participants at the summit, which is public but requires prior registration.
With this summit on artificial intelligence, the ITU aims to demonstrate that new technologies can help meet the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations for 2030, particularly in areas such as the fight against the climate crisis and humanitarian response in crisis contexts.
