The movement of cargo and goods is paralyzed at the Ressano Garcia border crossing, in the district of Moamba, Maputo province. Vehicles are not leaving Mozambique for South Africa and vice versa.
In the early hours of this morning, the drivers of two trucks were forced to cross the road. The protesters seized the drivers' keys and abandoned the cars.
However, the authorities removed the trucks from the EN4.
This afternoon Radio Mozambique said that normality had been restored, but the STV, reported the return of truck drivers leaving Mozambique for South Africa, all because of the chaotic situation at the border.
A line of trucks heading towards South Africa makes up about 10 kilometers of the road in the area known as Km 17.
In the border area, there is a police and military contingent with war vehicles.
Last week, the border was closed for several days. People looted goods seized by Mozambique Customs. Institutional residences, offices and vehicles were set on fire. The Tax Authority estimated the losses at 400 million meticais.
Today is the first of three days of stoppages called by Venâncio Mondlane.
