Replacement of a boat to connect Inhaca and Maputo City will still be an undated mirage

Reposição de embarcação para ligar Inhaca e cidade de Maputo ainda será uma miragem sem data

The connection between Inhaca Island and Maputo city via the KaNyaka boat will still take months, says councillor Roberto Chitsondzo.

Quoted by NewsHowever, he assures us that the vessel is being repaired at the dock. "We'll let you know as soon as it's ready. We don't want to give dates and create false expectations."

In the meantime, the islanders of KaNyaka are using an alternative vessel that can carry a maximum of 60 passengers. The KaNyaka can carry 150 passengers at once.

The inhabitants also face a lack of road transport. There are only two mixed vehicles on the island to transport around 6,900 inhabitants and connect the three districts of Ribzwene, Inguane and Nhanguene.

Due to the poor road conditions, the vehicles frequently break down. The councillor assures that three more robust vehicles will be purchased.
