The candidates from Renamo, Venâncio Mondlane, and Frelimo, Rasaque Manhique, are celebrating victory over the same municipality, Maputo city.

On his Facebook page, the Renamo frontrunner celebrates by writing: "This victory is not mine, but ours. It is a powerful reminder that when we unite in pursuit of a common goal, we are capable of achieving extraordinary things. I am here to represent you, your voices and your concerns."

Meanwhile, a celebration of the victory in the country's capital is taking place on the side of the Frelimo frontrunner, reports Tv Sucesso. However, nothing explicit has yet been verified by MZNews, which indicates Manhique's lead, apart from some images with triumphalist sayings, such as: "Maputo is celebrating. Together we win!", and thanks for their support.

Our newspaper is aware that the Renamo party, led by Venâncio Mondlane, is leading the vote counts in Maputo city. The same is true in the municipality of Matola, where the second largest opposition party is represented by António Muchanga, whose main competitor is Júlio Parruque, from Frelimo.

However, city dwellers are waiting for the official results to be released by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).
