Renamo calls on its members to trust and maintain respect for the party's organs, while at the same time using formal channels to channel any claims related to the internal life of the organization.
According to the spokesman for this political grouping, Marcial Macome, commenting on the recent episodes of vandalization and closure of Renamo's provincial offices in various parts of the country by members and sympathizers in opposition to the leadership, "any situation of discomfort or disagreement should be resolved within the party's organs".
"We have to understand that institutions work with bodies. If someone has a problem, they have to present it so that the best way forward can be found. You don't get anywhere with radical stances like closing delegations," said Macome.
Quoted by NewsMacome also said that the attitude of those involved in the actions to close the delegations was far removed from the party's cherished principles and represented a step backwards in the progress made by Renamo since its creation.
"We must understand that we have differences but we need to accept each other and be tolerant. Our difficulties and disagreements must not result in the closure of infrastructures. Whatever the demands, we have to bear in mind that the growth of the party will not be possible if the institutions are closed. Closing branches and headquarters will not dignify us," he said.
Renamo has admitted that the actions behind the closure of the party's headquarters were carried out by members of the formation and groups of dissatisfied demobilized members.
On the same occasion, the spokesman for this political organization clarified that there are no longer any ex-guerrillas in the party, but demobilized ones, with their own body to manage their interests and concerns.
"Some of the people in these actions are Renamo members and demobilized. We no longer have guerrillas, we have demobilized people. Those who identify themselves as guerrillas mean that they haven't yet demobilized. They are represented in the Political Commission, through the Association of Combatants in the Struggle for Democracy (ACOLDE)," he explained.
Asked about the motivations of the perpetrators of these actions, Marcial Macome said that the party has not yet been formally informed of any demands, and he therefore urges them to channel their demands to the party's organs for a solution. "I can't say what they want, because so far they've only closed their headquarters and haven't presented a written public document with their demands. What is clear is that they wanted the National Council to be held, which was postponed due to force majeure, but which should be rescheduled in due course," he said.
