"We want to boost production of potatoes to reduce imports" -Celso Correia

The government intends to boost the production of potatoes in order to reduce the import of this product. The fact was revealed last Friday, by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Celso Correia, on his visit to the district of Báruê, Manica province.

Celso Correia said that the consumption of potatoes has been increasing in the country over the years and there is a need to create conditions to meet demand and avoid dependence on exports.

He mentioned that the country has the capacity to produce enough potatoes to satisfy the national market, but to do so it is necessary to stimulate its production.

Celso Correia also visited macadamia fields, and said that despite the price of the product being low in the international market, it is still a crop that deserves attention from the government.

The leader projects a considerable growth of macadamia cultivation with considerable economic impact for the country.
