Four dead and three missing in shipwreck in northern Mozambique

Four people died and three were missing after a shipwreck occurred on Thursday in the district of Nacala-Porto, in the province of Nampula, Notícias, the main Mozambican daily newspaper writes today.

The maritime administrator of Nacala, Adamo Rachide, quoted today by Notícias, said that 14 people were rescued alive out of the 21 that were on the boat that sank.

The victims were returning from a beach they had gone to for the performance of a traditional ceremony supposed to release evil spirits, Adamo added.

Four boats were mobilized for the search operations. (Lusa)
