Extended deadline for the rehabilitation works on the Marracuene-Macaneta road

The rehabilitation of the road linking the town of Marracuene to Macaneta, Maputo province, may be finished by the end of July this year.

This is a section that will alleviate the suffering of citizens who commute or live in the locality of Macaneta, especially during the rainy season. The work was originally scheduled to be completed in April.

The Chairman of REVIMO's Board of Directors, Ângelo Lichanga, said that the contractor has executed about 65% of the construction work.

In this phase, the interventions comprised the placement of new soils in the 9 kilometers that correspond to the road, and also the placement of pavement in an extension of about three kilometers of the first section.

"The extension of the deadline is due to the complexity of the work taking place on section 2 of the road, a section that runs from the bridge over the Incomati River to the Macaneta traffic circle. The location is prone to flooding. To correct the problem the interventions consisted in the removal of the unsuitable layer, at a height of 60 centimeters, to fill another layer that will guarantee the quality of the work," explained Ângelo Lichanga.

According to Ângelo Lichanga, manacles were also placed for the evacuation of water. In the next few days work will begin on laying pavement.
