Teachers threaten to stop work due to non-compliance with overtime payments

Mozambique's National Teachers' Association (ANAPRO) is threatening to stop work in 15 days due to non-compliance with overtime payments, claiming that the problem has been going on for a year and a half.

In a publication in the newspaper "The Country"The group claims that the government was not telling the truth when it announced that the amounts were already in the accounts.

"Two weeks is the time given by the teachers to the government to settle the payment of overtime allowances for the current years 2022, 2023 and 2024," reads the same publication.

In Gaza province, teachers reiterate their displeasure at the failure of the executive to fulfill all its promises and say there are untruths surrounding the payments made recently.

The class is threatening not to release the grades for the current term and to make it impossible to take the school exams scheduled for November.

The government, for its part, reiterates the impossibility of satisfying the teachers' main concern, given the budgetary costs involved.
