For more than a year now, more than 200 members of the Mozambique Republic Police (PRM) who have been promoted to the rank of Officer in Inhambane province have not received their financial benefits and are threatening to go on strike to pressure the executive to pay their salaries and other allowances accordingly.

The Newspaper Briefs and FactsIn a letter sent by the police to the President of the Republic and the Minister of the Interior, they say they are "going through moments of uncertainty and despair".

The victims are part of the group of police officers promoted to sub-inspector, inspector and principal inspector on May 2, 2024. They are also demanding back pay from the date of their promotion. "...since then we have continued to receive our meager salaries."

The complainants allege that the problem affects graduates of private higher education institutions, while graduates of the Police Science Academy (ACIPOL), "your children", already have their situations regularized.

Among other things, the complainants threaten to join the "so-called vandal brothers".
