The spokesman for the Mozambique Republic Police in Zambezia province, Sidner Lonzo, said today that three cases of electoral offenses were recorded in that part of the country on the day of the general elections.
According to the official, all the files related to the incidents have already been opened.
One case took place in the district of Alto Mulócuè, where a Frelimo voter tried to vote twice. Two others took place in the district of Mocuba and in the city of Quelimane, where individuals were caught in possession of false credentials of candidate delegates. In Mocuba, the case involved a 14-year-old minor. "The credential, which belonged to the Renamo party, was seized". The credential seized from a citizen in Quelimane was from the Podemos party.
On the other hand, he said that the situation was calm, with the vote count still underway.
"Generally speaking, in the province of Zambézia, in terms of electoral security, it went as well as we expected, and the situation is calm and under control," he said.
He also said that, throughout the process, there were outbreaks where individuals tried to destabilize order, but the police did not see any occurrence that compromised the course of the elections.
"There were no occurrences that justified the use of riot control force," he noted.
