The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) say they already have strong clues that could reveal the identity of the armed men who kidnapped a businesswoman of Indian origin on Tuesday morning (16) in the city of Maputo.
The PRM revealed that in the area where the kidnapping took place, on Av. Karl Marx, there are establishments with several video surveillance cameras already in the possession of the corporation.
"What we can say is that there are strong or major clues to be followed because it is a place, fortunately, with many establishments with video surveillance systems. These images are in the possession of the authorities and we think that they will be very useful in clarifying this fact," said the PRM spokesman in Maputo city, Leonel Muchina, quoted this morning by the Radio Mozambique.
Muchina said that these leads are being followed up by both the PRM and the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC). For now, the authorities suspect that the kidnappers were already following the victim's routine.
"The victim is a 47-year-old woman of Indian origin who was unfortunately dragged away by individuals who were already waiting for her there. The criminals were four individuals, one of whom was carrying a pistol-type firearm. It was this weapon that he used to intimidate the victim. And so I managed to drag her towards the criminals' vehicle. There were no shots fired," he said.
