Prime Minister challenges public sector to reinvent itself

Primeiro-ministro desafia sector público a reinventar-se

The Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, challenged, this morning, during the opening of the II Coordinating Council of the Information Office (Gabinfo), the managers of public media companies to continuously raise the quality standards of the service they provide, an exercise that, as he cited, should be accompanied by empowerment of the respective professionals.

On the occasion, he reinforced that the media - public and private - has the task of accurately, rigorously, and impartially informing the public about all the national and international social, economic, and political dynamics.

Meanwhile, Maleiane pointed out that the public sector has increased obligations due to its social responsibility to inform citizens in a competitive context and with scarce resources.

Among other aspects, the two-day meeting will take stock of the fulfillment of the 1st Coordinating Council's recommendations and of the activities carried out between the second half of last year and the first half of this one.

Topics of interest of the sector will also be discussed such as: The Role of Public Media Bodies in the Electoral Process, Importance of Mozambique's Mandate as a Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council, Public Media Bodies versus entities with Public Utility Status, The Reforms in Professional Education and the Challenges of the Media Sector, among others.
