The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, called on Parliament to "urgently" schedule consideration of the bill approving the political commitment to inclusive national dialogue.
"The Head of State urgently requested the scheduling in accordance with the compromise established between the government and the political parties represented in the Assembly of the Republic, the provincial assemblies and the municipal assembly," says a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
The appeal follows the approval, on March 5, of the political compromise for an inclusive national dialogue, between Daniel Chapo and nine political groups that took part in the dialogue sessions for the pacification of the country, which has been facing a climate of strong social unrest since October, with demonstrations and stoppages called by former presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, who does not recognize the election results.
"The Minister in the Presidency for Parliamentary, Municipal and Provincial Assembly Affairs will present the aforementioned Bill," he adds.
On Sunday, the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, and former presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane held a meeting which culminated in the announcement of an immediate agreement between them to stop the violence.
