Presidente da CDE morto por populares em Inhassunge

People in the district of Inhassunge, in Zambezia province, have allegedly beaten to death the President of the District Electoral Commission (CDE).

According to CanalmozLuís Joaquim Salimo was killed as part of a day and night raid aimed at catching all the police officers and all the prominent members of Frelimo, including the district administrator. During the day, says the social media post, a group of demonstrators was shot at by the police.

The unsuccessful candidate was reportedly found at his home. He was accused of being the main perpetrator of the electoral fraud.

In that raid, the population also set fire to the police district command and the police vehicle.

The district police commander, the district administrator and the first secretary of the Frelimo party all fled from the population. The population opened the cells and freed all the prisoners, most of them demonstrators.

The police in Quelimane are considering sending a contingent to Inhassunge, but they fear they will run out of manpower because there are already rumors that the population of Quelimane intends to attack the police today. Yesterday, the PRM opened fire on Manuel de Araújo's march. During the night, the population carried out skirmishes in search of police officers, reports the Canalmoz
