The President of the Republic (PR), Filipe Nyusi, inaugurated today a factory for extracting and refining cooking oil in the city of Cuamba, in Niassa province. It is estimated that the plant will produce three million liters per year.
"Every producer knows that his product has a place here, including soybeans. For this factory, all producers are called to provide quality raw material and in quantity for the extraction and refining of cooking oil," said Nyusi, after inaugurating the enterprise.
The venture is a result of the government's priorities under the presidential initiative "Industrialize Mozambique", which aims to boost economic growth, productivity, and job creation.
The plant will be fed by 40,000 soybean and cotton producers assisted by agricultural extension workers.
Earlier, the president conducted a meeting with members of the Provincial Services Council representing the state and local government, where he was satisfied with the level of production achieved last year and in the first quarter of 2022.
"There are many positive aspects, but during the debate we will focus more on those that we should improve. I was pleased to hear that meat production is rising in the province. It is one of the provinces with revenues above those collected last year," Nyusi said.
In the first half of this year Niassa province recorded an overall production of more than 41 billion meticais against about 40 billion meticais recorded last year.
By the end of this year the province expects to collect more than 48 billion meticais, according to the Secretary of State of Niassa, Gimo Vilanculo, quoted by RM.
The largest overall contribution was from the agriculture, fishing and forestry sectors.
