PR exonerates Prime Minister and Vice-Minister of Health

The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, ordered the dismissal today of the Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, and the Deputy Minister of Health, Lídia de Fátima da Graça Cardoso, according to a statement by the Press Office of the Presidency of the Republic.

Do Rosário and Lídia de Fátima were removed from the executive by separate presidential order.

Carlos Agostinho do Rosario is an economist and politician. He was led to the position of Prime Minister in 2015. It fell to him to reveal the "Hidden Debts", in 2016, contracted without the scrutiny of Parliament, for the entities Empresa Moçambicana de Atum (Ematum), Mozambique Asset Management (MAM) and ProIndicus.

The document to which MZNews had access this afternoon does not state the reasons that distanced Carlos Agostinho do Rosário and Lídia de Fátima from their public positions, functions, and obligations.

These two divestitures come less than a day after Filipe Nyusi removed six ministers from the current government through the same presidential decree.

The PR exonerated, yesterday, also in separate dispatches, the ministers of Economy and Finance, Adriano Afonso Maleiane; of Mineral Resources and Energy, Ernesto Max Elias Tonela; of Industry and Commerce, Carlos Alberto Fortes Mesquita; of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, João Osvaldo Machatine; of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, Augusta de Fátima Charifo Maita; and of Combatants, Carlos Jorge Siliya.

Until then, the President of the Republic has not appointed the seven new ministers and the new deputy minister.
