Maputo Port modernizes its infrastructure to increase berthing and handling capacity

The Port of Maputo has started work to modernize its infrastructure in order to increase its docking and cargo handling capacity. The works are estimated at 70.5 million dollars.

This is the improvement of quays 6, 7, 8, and 9, which will allow, as of next year, the port to receive ships with large drafts simultaneously.

According to the port, the works are being carried out by the Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil and include the construction of access sidewalk, defenses, where ships pull over when docking, bollards, railway line, lighting towers, since the port works 24 hours, and service networks.
