Residents of the Vaz area, in the city of Beira, Sofala province, interrupted traffic on National Road 6 (N6) on Monday (10), demanding that the pedestrian bridge, which was knocked down in November last year by a private truck, be replaced.
According to a TV Miramar MozambiqueWith school starting, the community is worried about the increase in traffic and the risk of accidents, especially for children who have to cross the road every day.
The road has become increasingly busy and, without the bridge, crossing safely is becoming more and more difficult. "The situation is untenable. We're afraid that our children will have accidents. The footbridge was the only safe way to cross," said the residents, who are calling for an immediate solution from the competent authorities.
The protest brought traffic on the road to a standstill, creating chaos. However, the population is waiting for an urgent response to ensure everyone's safety, especially children who need to cross to get to school.
