Polícia usa gás lacrimogéneo para dispersar manifestação na cidade de Maputo

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique used tear gas again today, Monday (04), to disperse a group of demonstrators in Maputo city center, specifically on Mao Tse-Tung Avenue.

The demonstration against the announced results of the October 9 general elections had been called by the Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique (PODEMOS), which supports the presidential candidacy of Venâncio Mondlane.

According to videos circulating on social media, the demonstrators, who were wielding protest signs, were walking from Mao Tse-Tung towards Eduardo Mondlane Avenue, when the police started throwing tear gas in a clear attempt to disperse them.

On the outskirts of the Mozambican capital, in the Chamanculo neighborhood, a publication of the Success TV reports that the police shot a woman and her son on their way to a bakery.
