The Police of the Republic of Mozambique are preventing a group of supporters of former presidential candidate Venancio Mondlane from remaining in the vicinity of the Attorney General's Office (PGR) in the city of Maputo.
Mondlane is due to appear before the Public Prosecutor's Office today to be heard in criminal proceedings over incitement to public disorder in the post-election period. He was due to be heard yesterday, but because he was abroad, he requested a postponement until this morning.
A group of supporters mobilized to welcome Mondlane on his arrival at the PGR and to wait outside the institution while the hearing took place.
The PRM, in strong contingent, is expelling the youths, and has already deployed canine police to repel the movements and intentions of the people.
At the moment, traffic is impassable on Avenida Vladimir Lenin, the stretch that leads to the OPG.
A citizen interviewed by Success TV repudiated the presence of the canine police and the blocking of roads, as he had difficulty getting to his workplace.
According to another citizen who said he works at Maputo Shopping, all the streets are closed, because he is between the roadblocks and cannot continue or retreat his journey, meaning he is forced to remain at the roadblock until the access roads open.
