The Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique (Podemos) declines to accept any decision by the Constitutional Council (CC) to repeat the general elections. Restoring electoral truth is its inalienable purpose.
According to the political grouping, the October 9 ballot was marked by electoral fraud that swallowed up the victory of the party and the independent presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane.
According to Tivane, the fight is for the restoration of electoral truth, because there are no objective conditions for validating the results put forward by the CNE.
The Podemos leader claimed on Friday that the Mozambican population had elected the political grouping to the Assembly of the Republic with 138 seats and the presidential candidate with 53% of the votes.
In this sense, Dinis Tivane explained that by agreeing to a possible decision by the CC to repeat the ballot, Podemos would be giving an advantage and the benefit of the doubt to the Frelimo party, which, with its candidate, Daniel Chapo, were indicated as having won the most votes. For the legislative elections, the results released by the National Electoral Commission (CNE) indicate that Frelimo won 195 seats and Daniel Chapo 70.67% of the votes in the presidential elections. The CNE gave Podemos 32 seats and Venâncio Mondlane 20.32 votes.
