Podemos accuses PGR of bowing to Frelimo and being the party's intimidating arm

Podemos acusa PGR de se vergar à Frelimo e ser o braço intimidatório do partido

The Attorney General's Office works in tandem with the Frelimo party, according to Elvino Dias, the lawyer of the independent candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Venâncio Mondlane.

The accusation follows a notice from the PGR for the candidate to respond to cases of electoral offenses.

According to the lawyer, the notification shows a lack of impartiality, since there are cases of electoral crimes committed by other parties before the acts mentioned in the PGR document.

Dias was speaking this afternoon in Maputo, after submitting two complaints to the PGR, one against the National Electoral Commission and the other against the Frelimo party, for electoral offenses.

On that occasion, he said that despite the existence of "hidden" relationships against other parties, the established institutions of justice are the only recourse left to them. Otherwise, the last word belongs to the people, he warned.
