PM advocates investment for diversification of Least Developed Countries economy

Mozambique believes that aid for development and trade should serve as a mechanism to increase the involvement of the business sector in the Least Developed Countries in the global value chain.

The position was defended on Sunday afternoon in Doha by the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, in his speech during the general debate at the Fifth Conference of Nations on the Least Developed Countries, which kicked off this Sunday in the Qatari capital.

In a short speech in English, Adriano Maleiane also stressed the need for investment to improve services in various sectors, in order to diversify the economy.

Adriano Maleiane believes that the active involvement and participation of the domestic and foreign private sector is fundamental to making this a reality.

At the end of his speech, he reiterated Mozambique's commitment to the successful implementation of the Doha Action Program.

Before speaking at the general debate, part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries, Adriano Maleiane met with the President of Slovenia and the Head of Climate Change at the United Nations. (RM)
