PGR dismisses complaint about ballot boxes submitted by Venâncio Mondlane's representative

PGR afasta queixa sobre urnas submetida por mandatário de Venâncio Mondlane

The analysis of the complaint filed by Elvino Dias, Venâncio Mondlane's trustee, about the use of ballot boxes from the last local elections in the next general elections in October does not fall within its competence, according to the Attorney General's Office.

"In the light of the electoral legal framework, the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) has no legitimacy to complain or appeal against the decisions of electoral bodies," reads the response to the complaint filed this week.

The Public Prosecutor's Office recommended that the complainants submit their complaint to the relevant bodies, including the National Electoral Commission (CNE).

The Public Prosecutor's Office believes that this is a case of an electoral dispute "which the CNE itself is aware of and which can be appealed to the Constitutional Council".
