Chimanimani Park may receive more than a thousand tourists this year

The Administrator of Chimanimani National Park, Lionel Macicame, said on Sunday (3) that more than a thousand tourists are expected this year in the park, in Manica province. The official was speaking at the official opening of the 2022 tourist season.

"To meet the demand, a tourist camp is planned to be set up in the community of Nhabaua this month," he said, advancing that accommodated visitors will also be able to "climb Mount Binga and the Muhôco waterfall."

Chimanimani will bet on the domestic market based on daily visits for domestic tourists seeking cultural tourist attractions such as rock paintings, canoeing, mountaineering, as well as the integration of various tourist activities at the Mohôa and Mudzira waterfalls, said the Park Administrator.

For his part, the secretary of state in Manica, Edson Macuácua, recalled the words of the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi: "2022 Chimanimani will be in fashion.

Macuacua used the ocadiao to urge the community and the park administration to create the necessary conditions to preserve the ecological sanctuary as a purpose to attract more visitors.

"We are here to encourage you to continue promoting this park of ours, which is already a benchmark and is cited as one of the world-class tourist destinations," he stressed.

On the other hand, the secretary visited the exhibition of camping materials from tour operators, several seized items of garimpo and poaching. He also visited the facilities of the park and the construction works of residences for employees and reception for tourists and visitors.

Chimanimani National Park is one of the key areas for biodiversity conservation as it contributes significantly to maintaining the wildlife of the national network of conservation areas, as well as global biodiversity, including migratory species.
