Parliament will vote on the 2021 State General Account through resolution

The Assembly of the Republic has recommended that the Planning and Budget Committee (CPO) draw up a resolution on the 2021 State General Account (CGE) to be voted on by the plenary on a date to be announced.

The General State Account (CGE) will not be voted on directly, but through a resolution by parliament's CPO, according to the president of the RA, Esperança Bias, quoted by DW. In the document, the CPO recommends voting or disapproving the bill.

Throughout the discussions, the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (FRELIMO), the party in power and with a parliamentary majority, recommended approval of the document, considering that the government was making an effort to increase funding for sectors with an impact on poverty reduction.

The National Resistance of Mozambique (RENAMO), the main opposition party, defended the rejection of the CGE, arguing that the executive persists in disrespecting the recommendations of the Administrative Court in the execution of the State Budget.

"The Administrative Court has pointed out serious errors and repeated violations of the law, which amount to arrogance, arrogance and disrespect for state institutions and Mozambicans," said the RENAMO parliamentary group in its opinions to the parliamentary committees.

For its part, the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), the third party, also called for the CGE to be rejected, accusing the government of "sponsoring corruption" by ignoring alleged mismanagement of state resources in the institutions under its tutelage.

Commenting on the positions of the parliamentary groups, the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, reiterated the government's commitment to rigor in the management of public accounts, through measures and policies aimed at "planning, budgeting and effective execution of state resources".
