Renamo held its 6th National Council in Maputo today, and in his opening speech, president Ossufo Momade criticized the stance of members who distort the party's image by playing the media.
In his opinion, these members, whose names he did not mention, have not been able to deal calmly with the party's current challenges and objectives in the post-electoral phase, marked by social upheaval.
"Strangely, and contrary to our political will and special duty to strengthen cohesion, discipline, dynamism and a spirit of creativity in the party, we have seen certain members parading on television and in the courts looking for legitimacy in order to achieve party-political positions against us," he said.
He said that these attitudes amounted to failed attempts to change the course of events in order to "erase the history" of the party.
"We regret that such members have invested their time and intelligence to impute electoral fraud to the party in particular to its president," he said.
On that occasion, I recalled that the party's National Political Commission had decided on possible dates for the congress, namely March 15 and 16.
