Mozambique's seven poaching barons and their luxury touches. "Set up private power transformer station in backyard"

Os sete barões moçambicanos da caça furtiva e seus toques de luxo. “Montar Posto de Transformação de energia particular no quintal”

Poaching is part of a group of activities that promise a resounding improvement in people's lives. Such is the case of seven Mozambican citizens, residents of Massingir, in Gaza province.

Recently, a weekly publication paid attention to the fact that there are several luxurious properties in Massingir, whose owners' activities are unknown and suspicious for such 'ostentation'. However, it advanced that the common denominator among the owners is poaching rhino horn. In this, the publication matched the residences to the owners.

"In the midst of the creeping penury that characterizes the district of Massingir, there are those who lead a life of luxury. The magnificent buildings that stand out among the generality of the huts that make up the architecture of the district, are just the tip of the iceberg of this other face of Massingir," it reads.

The work was reportedly motivated by the recent arrest in Maputo of the country's biggest poacher and wanted by the South African police and Interpol. This is Simon Ernesto Valoi, better known as "Boss Navara", the untouchable altruist who, in his route, has put the state and organs of justice in his pocket.

In fact, 'Navara' is not the only "boss". The publication we are quoting also puts forward the following names, "boss Nyimpine" [Justice Ngovene], "Calisto", "Encarnação", "Matimisse", Chiúre and Matsolo.

Starting with Navara, the source writes that he is the owner of a luxurious residence in neighborhood 6, on the outskirts of Massingir, lit by a private Transformation Post (PT). In that yard there are two houses and other luxury constructions.

Not so far away, Navara had a similar house built in neighborhood 4, with the same painting, but smaller, for a woman of his close relations, an employee, at the time, of Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), in the Massingir delegation.

In front of the "Navara" house, in neighborhood 6, stands the luxury residence belonging to "Boss Calisto," a high-ranking citizen on the poaching route in that region. An investor in the area of transport, his cars rotate in Chókwè, Xai-xai and even cross board to South Africa.

In neighborhood 4 of the village of Massingir lives, very close to the soccer field, the "boss Nyimpine". He built a house and another one is still under construction. Besides these, he has a one-story house in neighborhood 6. It is rented. "Nyimpine" has some interests in agriculture, according to the source description.

In the vicinity of "Nyimpine's" residence, in neighborhood 6, the "boss Encarnação's" residence of type 4 is being erected, all in slab, with an internal garage, kitchen and bathrooms. Supposedly, he hasn't finished it yet because the siege is tight.

The publication we cited states that these individuals make up the middle part of the crime circuit, with the heaviest weights being in higher quarters of the nation. This is an elite that is concerned with not leaving its tracks.
