Tour operators in Niassa cancel tourist reservations due to terrorism

Tour operators in the Niassa Special Reserve canceled all tourist reservations for the New Year's Eve party due to the outbreaks of terrorist attacks in Mecula district.

According to the governor of Niassa, Judite Massengele, who was speaking last Wednesday in Lichinga, said that tour operators in the Niassa Special Reserve have cancelled their activities to ensure the safety of workers and visitors.

To Radio Mozambique, Judite Massengele said that despite this situation, no worker has lost his job and that the Defense and Security Forces are committed to restoring public order and tranquility on the ground.

However, the provincial director of Culture and Tourism in Niassa, Matias Chapungo, said that to avoid the flight of tourists in the province, the sector is promoting other tourist destinations, such as Lake Niassa.
