On Wednesday, the Center for Democracy and Human Development (CDD) submitted a complaint to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) against those suspected of involvement in the murder of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe.
"Since the end of October, we have been pursuing, investigating and interviewing people about the circumstances and the possible killers and material and moral authors who ordered the murder of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe," said the Director General of the CDD.
According to Adriano Nuvunga, the complaint is accompanied by evidence, including witnesses, which indicates that the killers left the Civil Prison.
"They left the Civil Prison. Someone opened the door for them, sent them to Moamba, ostensibly to work in the fields, but [in fact] they were released to carry out this heinous mission to take the lives of lawyer Elvino Dias and politician Paulo Guambe," he said.
The CDD's complaint is against the BO's Head of Prison Operations, Roque Xavier, who facilitated the irregular departure of prisoners Julião Ruben Munguambe and Edson Cassiano Lacerda Sílica from the BO.
Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe were murdered on the night of October 19, 2024, and according to a CDD publication, on October 21, 2024, Xavier ordered the elimination of the entry and exit records of the two prisoners.
The activist said that these individuals spent two days out of jail and without any kind of protocol established in the penitentiaries. "[This] indicates that someone organized the process."
Speaking to the press outside the prosecutor's office, Nuvunga said that these were the same people who ordered the murder of activist Anastácio Matavele in 2019.
"What we came here to present to the prosecutor's office is enough to trigger actions that should result in the immediate arrest of the people involved," he said.
He recalled that about two weeks ago, the CDD reported threats against Elvino Dias' family, who were then forced to leave their home.
"These are the same individuals who took part in the logistics of the murder of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe," he accused.
