The President of Frelimo, Filipe Nyusi, today in Matola, assured the support of Tanzania and Rwanda in the fight against terrorism in the province of Cabo Delgado, after the departure of the Military Mission of the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SAMIM), next June.
Speaking at the opening of the National Committee of the Association of Combatants of the National Liberation Struggle (ACLLN), Nyusi said that the country could still receive support from other nations.
"With SAMIM's withdrawal scheduled for mid-July, we will continue to work bilaterally with Rwanda's friends and some SADC countries, specifically Tanzania, which are available. There are others who have also shown interest, but it depends on the decision we can take to give their support in the fight against terrorism, from which no country can feel immune and which cannot be fought alone," he said.

On the other hand, the party leader said that the electoral process is costly for the country, which is why a proposal is on the table to reduce the budget for the elections and use the reduced amount to finance the operations of Mozambican troops in the Northern Operational Theater in Cabo Delgado.
Even so, Nyusi recognizes that the country will not be able to abandon the current cycle of elections, in which the municipal elections immediately precede the presidential, legislative and provincial government elections in the previous year.
