The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, says that there are organizations that are answering to the courts for supporting the protesters against the election results, "offering them food, water and even money".
Quoted by "O País", the Head of State says that, in the future, we need to think about stabilizing the electoral legislation, to avoid having to revise the electoral package every time there are elections.
Filipe Nyusi says that the early proclamations of victory in the elections by some candidates is one of the reasons that led to the demonstrations, which were previously seen as non-violent.
Venâncio Mondlane's communication did not tend towards peaceful demonstrations: "By saying that we have to demonstrate in certain places, you are instigating violence. Then they are no longer peaceful demonstrations."
Nyusi was speaking today to an audience made up of managers from higher education institutions, where he was looking for solutions to end the post-election crisis.
According to the President of the Republic, preventing people from moving, blocking roads, looting businesses, preventing exams from taking place and other actions can no longer be considered demonstrations, let alone peaceful ones.
