Around 8,000 families in the district of Mecanhelas, in Niassa province, have been deprived of electricity from the national grid after 25 poles on the transmission line from the city of Cuamba to the town of Insaca fell due to rain and strong winds.
According to the delegate of Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), from the Cuamba Customer Service Area, Aurélio Luís, he said that in a preliminary assessment, the damage is estimated at around two million meticais.
