The President of the Electoral Commission in Maputo City, Ana Chemane, says there is no material from last October 9 elections to be destroyed, in compliance with the resolution of the National Electoral Commission 87/CNE/2024 of December 30.

According to the person in charge, quoted by DWThe electoral material was destroyed by unknown people during the demonstrations. "The warehouse was destroyed," during the demonstrations that followed the release of the results by the Constitutional Council.

The CNE decided that the Provincial Electoral Commissions should destroy the electoral materials this Friday, and that the institutions should send their reports by January 22.

Civil society organizations have filed precautionary measures to prevent the CNE from complying with the ruling, otherwise all the evidence and illicit electoral fraud that brought Frelimo and its presidential candidate Daniel Chapo to power will disappear.
