The government of Nampula province, in northern Mozambique, has decided to revise its Provincial Five-Year Plan (PQP) and Provincial Plan and Budget 2025 (POP) to include the damage caused by the three cyclones that affected the region in 2025, specifically Chido, Dikeledi and Jude.
Speaking at the end of the second ordinary session of the Provincial Executive Council, spokesman Wiliamo Tunzine emphasized the need to consider the effects of these cyclones on the instruments in question as they cause serious challenges in the areas of health, education, agriculture, housing, youth employment and the environment, which is essential to ensure the sustainable development of the region.
In addition, the governor, quoted by the Rigor newspaperAt the same time, it was pointed out that access conditions in the districts affected by the three cyclones, specifically Nacarôa, Eráti, Lalaua and Muecate, face various difficulties, which requires government action to improve mobility and reduce the effects of natural disasters.
"As you know, Nampula province has had three cyclones this year: Cyclone Chido, Cyclone Dikeledi and the last cyclone, on the 10th, Cyclone Jude. Therefore, we need to incorporate the consequences of these three cyclones into our five-year plan. We have studied the proposal, but we feel there is a need to revise the government's PQP to incorporate all the issues related to the effects of these three cyclones that the province has experienced in this short period," said Tunzine.
According to governor Eduardo Abdula, at least five roads and several bridges were damaged in Nampula province during the passage of tropical cyclone Jude, which has affected Mozambique since Monday (10).
