"Nothing new!". Chapo slaps Nyusi's programs for his 100 days in office

“Nada de novo!”. Chapo chapou programas de Nyusi para os cem dias de governação

The government has already presented the plan for the first hundred days of governance of the new President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo. These are 78 measures that will test the skills of its members in dealing with the multifaceted issues of the Mozambican nation.

However, it seems that there is nothing new in all these measures, most of which are unfulfilled promises made by former President Filipe Nyusi, i.e. what he didn't do when the time was right.

Thus - just to mention a few - Chapo's battalion was ordered to ensure the payment of the thirteenth salary in the civil service, including the payment of debts to suppliers of goods and services to the National Institute of Social Action; another burden is the creation of the Development Bank of Mozambique.

By the end of the first 100 days, the government also intends to establish the Mutual Guarantee Fund (FGM), which aims to guarantee easier access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The MGF was announced by Nyusi's government in 2022, as part of a Package of Economic Acceleration Measures.

The Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy is in charge of connecting 200 houses in the city of Maputo to natural gas, an initiative that has been delayed since it was presented by the government of President Armando Guebuza, Nyusi's predecessor.

The Ministry of the Interior will acquire a vessel for coastal surveillance, while the Ministry of Transport will license a ship for maritime cabotage transport, a project that the Nyusi government never fully got off the ground.

Mozambique Airlines is to acquire three new aircraft by April 30, according to the plan approved by the Council of Ministers at its meeting on February 3. On January 31, LAM launched a public tender for the acquisition of Embraer ERJ190 and Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The tender did not mention the number of aircraft required. (Source: Zitamar)
