The Maputo municipality says it will not tolerate cases of shortening of routes by passenger carriers, after new fares went into effect this Sunday.
The councilor for Mobility, Transport and Traffic of the Maputo City Council, José Nichols, said that the city council has strengthened its presence on public roads to prevent shortening of routes, to control crowding and the price charged by carriers.
José Nicols stressed to Rádio Moçambique, that passengers pay a fare of up to 12 meticais for a stretch under 10 kilometers, and 15 meticais over this distance.
