Maputo municipality and partners have around 10 million meticais for the independence festival

The Maputo Municipal Council (CMM) has mobilized around 10 million meticais from partners to hold the National Independence Festival in Maputo, on the occasion of June 25, which commemorates the 49th anniversary of Mozambique's independence.

At least 30 Mozambican artists will brighten up the event.

Speaking yesterday, Sunday (23), the councillor for Youth and Knowledge Creation, Nércio Duvane, said that for the organization and animation of the event, the city council sought to bring together different musical genres to encompass all generations.

"The festival is packed with a wide range of activities, including a mega-show featuring around 30 heavyweight artists, and the line-up includes musical styles such as marrabenta, Pandza, hip-hop, traditional dance, the old guard and our youth," said the source.

Cited by AIMDuvane stressed that "as far as entertainment is concerned, the festival will also be graced by renowned DJs". Around 10,000 people are expected to attend the show.

The municipality will set up several play areas for children for the Municipal Independence Festival, which will take place tomorrow, Tuesday (25).

There will also be activities such as a health fair and the issuing of identity cards and passports. There will also be a tent providing municipal services, especially the payment of various taxes.

There will also be 300 market traders exhibiting food, handicrafts, jewelry, books and records.

Representing the Mozambican artists, singer Matilde Conjo said everything was in place. "We're preparing the event so that people won't be disappointed. Our country is celebrating, let's get together and celebrate this very special date which is national independence day for all of us."

The commander of the Maputo Municipal Police (MP), Ernesto Zualo, said that in order to make the event a reality, the traffic on some of the roads leading to Independence Square will be stopped in order to create an orderly atmosphere around the shows.
