A group of displaced women, in the reception camp in Ngalane, are making a "Xitique" contribution of 200 meticais to return to their area of origin, from where they left due to armed attacks, a little all over Cabo Delgado province.
The amount seems derisory, but for those who have lost everything and live off donations, it can be the beginning of a new lease on life. For example, Muanansali Dade, 49, does odd jobs every day, mostly cleaning the fields of those in need. This is the only way he can save enough money to contribute at the end of the month.
There are 25 women in Xitique led by Dade, and the meeting is always scheduled for the evening of the last Sunday of each month.
The group's name is "Kulipilila", which in the kimuâni language means "to bear", something they have been doing together since May.
"I will save it to go back to Quissanga," said, Maimuna Antumane, one of the first to receive the accumulated amount.
Among the many painful stories, which only the eyes feel the fervor of tears of pain, the savings group is one of the ways to dream again of a better life after the war.
